November is expected to see a spike in MOT demand as a byproduct of the rules being temporarily changed during the pandemic. MOT tests could be deferred by up to six months during the pandemic, creating a bottleneck in November not seen historically.
Members and fleet operators with vehicles requiring MOT tests before the end of the calendar year are encouraged to book them as soon as possible.
The number of MOTs being required across the BVRLA fleet has increased in recent years, with stock being held for longer while availability of new vehicles was heavily impacted during the pandemic. Data from DVSA shows that 28% of cars and vans fail their MOT, with non-working headlights, indicators, and reflectors accounting for over a quarter of failures.
