The BVRLA’s annual Fleets in Charge Conference will be packed with keynote speakers, presentations, and insightful panels when it takes place in London this July.
The conference will open with the latest findings from the BVRLA’s Road to Zero Report Card. The association’s Chief Executive, Gerry Keaney will deliver an assessment of where we are on the transition to net zero across all vehicle types and main business models.
As a General Election gets ever closer, leading figures from the Conservative and Labour parties will share their visions for road transport. Delegates will get a feel for where the priorities of each party lie and what the future could hold for the sector. Anthony Browne MP, the Minister responsible for Transport Decarbonisation and Air Quality, will provide an update on the Government’s net zero agenda. He will be followed later in the day by Bill Esterson MP, Shadow Minister for Roads. Esterson will outline Labour’s approach to decarbonisation and road policy, and what steps the party will take if it wins power.
In between the two will be an interview with Caroline Low CBE, Director of Transport Decarbonisation from the Department for Transport. She will give an update on current policy delivery and its impacts on rental and leasing.
The first panel session, Retail in Detail, will focus on how consumer attitudes are shaping the sector. Featuring representatives from Arval UK, Auto Trader and Stellantis, the session will highlight the impact of changing timelines, media misinformation and the cost of living crisis.
While list prices, tax rates and residual values dominate the discussion around an affordable transition, how total running costs vary between ICE and EV can never be overlooked. A keynote with Chris Jones of Admiral Pioneer will look at the cost of insuring EVs and automated vehicles. He will be followed by Jack Palmer of Frost and Sullivan, delivering a keynote on the future of transport. Palmer will look at the way new battery technology and the era of the ‘Software Defined Vehicle’ is changing automotive business models.
The final keynote will be from James Douglas of Motability Operations. He will look at how innovation is influencing decarbonisation - armed with insights gained as the UK’s biggest fleet operator.
Our final ‘Fleet Takeover’ panel will look at how fleets are rising to the myriad of challenges coming their way. Chaired by Paul Hollick of the AFP, it will feature Lorna McAtear of National Grid, Edmund King of The AA, Stuart Murphy of Royal Mail and Rob Simister of Centrica.
The BVRLA is holding its flagship Fleets in Charge Conference on Wednesday 10 July in Westminster. This year’s Conference sponsors are: The AA, Allstar, Arval, Auto Trader, Ebbon Group, Fleet Assist, Flexible Power Systems, Motability, and OEC.
